:: Hathaway takes second straight CARQUEST Series win |
|

QUEBEC CITY, QC – Just one week after CASCAR
CARQUEST Series racer Jason Hathaway won his first-ever
CARQUEST Series race, the Appin, ON racer returned to victory
lane on Saturday night at Circuit Ste-Croix.
The CARQUEST 100 was the third CARQUEST Series race
of the season and took place at the 5/8-mile oval on the
shores of the St. Lawrence River, near Quebec City. Hathaway’s
E.L. Fordham Motors / TSC Stores Chevy started fourth in
the 100 lap race and moved past race leader Brad Graham
on lap 56 to become the fourth and final leader of the event.
Finishing second to Hathaway at Ste-Croix was St-Jerome,
QC racer Andre Coursol. The CARQUEST Chevy driver has been
on the podium following all three CARQUEST Series races
this season. Coursol set the fastest time during time trials
and led the first 10 laps before Carp, ON racer Steve Munro
took the top spot; a position he would hold until lap 22.
Munro, who would eventually finish third at Circuit
Ste-Croix, has also finished no worse than third so far
in ’04. Brad Graham, the winner of Race #1 at Cayuga on
June 5, led laps 23 -55 before giving way to Hathaway.
NEXT RACE: The fourth CARQUEST Series race of the season
is part of a doubleheader CASCAR race weekend at Cayuga
2000 Speedway. The CARQUEST Series teams will be in action
on Saturday, July 3, in advance of the ‘Canada Day Shootout’
finale, featuring the CASCAR Super Series on Sunday, July
4.
